USPS Service Standard Changes
In the September - October 2014 issue of the APWU National News Letter, The American Postal Worker, Western Regional Coordinator Omar Gonzalez warned APWU members of the PMG's intent to go ahead with the Postal Service's plans to rationalize the network and streamline the workforce. Most APWU members should be aware of the recent March 20 agreement between the APWU and USPS which creates the procedure for filling residual vacancies in the Clerk, Maintenance and Motor Vehicle Crafts. Hopefully, this will result in the conversion of Postal Support Employees to career status and the conversion of Part-Time Flexible Clerks to full-time in the Southern Oregon Area Local.
On May 1st, the 21 day eReassign postings for PTF clerks in the Portland District should be available on the eReassign website. In Medford, 11 residual vacant duty assignments should be posted.

Even with the Local APWU and NALC attending State Conferences and Conventions, Community activists and Postal Workers showed up in the National Day of Action to protest the Postal Service's attempt to privatize the retail operations into Staples stores.
With the help from others in our Rogue Valley community, we took to the street to educate the public.
Neither snow, nor rain, nor heat, nor gloom of night stays these Clerks from protesting the Postal Service’s sweetheart deal with Staples that is moving mail service into Staples stores. …Continue

Penalty Overtime Exclusion Period
As referenced in Article 8, Sections 4 and 5, of the USPS–NALC and USPS–APWU national agreements, the December period (during which penalty overtime regulations are not applicable) consists of four consecutive service weeks.
This year, the December period begins Pay Period 26-13 — Week 1 (November 30, 2013) — and ends Pay Period 01-14 — Week 2 (December 27, 2013).
